The Glass Building

On March 23, 2023, American Friends of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel (AFS) celebrated the opening of the Mindy Schneider Lesser and Dr. Michael Lesser Pavilion in a ribbon-cutting gala event.

The new 400,000-square-foot Pavilion doubles the size of AFS and ushers in a new era to grow and improve pediatric healthcare in Israel.  The 7-floor building is connected to the existing medical center and includes a 2-floor emergency hospital, fortified to withstand conventional, biological and chemical warfare; a protected and modernized neonatal department – the first of its kind in Israel; and a protected Dialysis Institute.  In addition, the building will house the Research and Innovation Center for Children; the Center for Brain Diseases, which integrates Neurology and Psychiatry; the Eating Disorders Institute; a synagogue, auditorium, and an outdoor therapeutic garden.

The Mindy Schneider Lesser and Dr. Michael Lesser Pavilion will enable AFS to serve many more children in Israel and from abroad. Equally important, it will be a hub for AFS to develop, pilot and launch state-of-the-art clinical, research and medical education programs. AFS is truly thrilled about the potential of these programs to make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of children.  We look forward to sharing updates with you as the Mindy Schneider Lesser and Dr. Michael Lesser Pavilion progresses and these programs take shape.
